If you've been keeping up with metadata, you will see that I label my music as Nu-Hop. Or Vampire Music/Nu-Hop. A while ago, while organizing my files, I updated them to say Vampire Music/Nu-Hop as the genre. But there are many genres that I founded/expounded on. Evil Classical, Infinite Psalms, NDM (Nu-Doom Metal), Irish Reggae...
Trust. It's more than a selfish way to differentiate myself from the rest of modern music (or music in general).
Well, here I am. I wanna talk about 2 genres that have gone previously un-noted, as well as shine some light onto what I'm doing now.
#Hypersoul is fast tempo (like House), but the lyrics are Mayfield deep and the singing is James Brown-passionate. The groove is double-time, but it maintains a steady pace so you can catch it and leave it alone at will. When Hypersoul is played at a party or in a DJ set, it becomes SUPERTrance. All of your motions are predicted, and you can drift at your own leisure. To access Hypersoul, you must chant it:
"Hypersoul, yeah! Hypersoul!"
As many times as you feel it, as often as you want. Just know that you ARE inviting in dark forces. Who, among anything else, just want to have a good time.
Hypersoul/SUPERTrance has been around since around 2019. When it's time for another live DJ set (in-person, specifically), you'll see how it's all executed.
#Voodoohop was originally DJ Premier's genre. He would sample these obscure funk/rock/pop records and add bebop drums. No one did it quite like Preemo. So when I met him, I asked if I could ...embellish, if you will. He said he didn't think anyone was up on what he was doing, as far as genreworks. After a light laugh, I knew what I had to do.
Voodoohop uses force and aggressive lyrics. #Voodoolektro uses ELECTRICITY and SHOCKING lyrics. If you've been listening since 2012, you'll see that these genre-based developments were long in the making. But yeah. I try to shock. If you know me, you'll see that such is shocking in and of itself, because I live a VERY modest life.
